Now that it's back on the mill the cap needs to be made as level as possible by packing out the 'chairs' that contain the rollers, and also adjusted so the worm will mesh correctly with the cogs.  
The lightning conductor needs to be connected, the rest of the fanstage needs to be attached and the petticoat has to be refitted.  There will also be some protection from birds.

When it's ready the scaffold will be taken down and the cap allowed to turn with the wind.

 

So how level can it be?

This is the front of the cap where the sails are attached. There are four rollers here set in an iron plate which may date from the installation of the patent sails. the lead tags form part of the lightning conductor and will be attached to the rollers.
